Nutritional Supplements: Are you getting your 5 - 10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day?

Nutritional supplements are the newest food group. Have you added one to your diet yet? We are told to eat 5 - 10 serving of fruits and vegetables a day. The newest rumor is that the serving recommendation is about to be increased to 13. I haven't seen that yet but I'll be sure to update when I do.

There have been several recent studies that report that the fresh fruit and vegetables that we are eating today are lower in certain vitamins and minerals than they were roughly 50 years ago. The nutrient data was acquired from the U.K., USA and Canada.

For example, two peaches would have supplied a woman's daily requirement of Vitamin A in 1950. Today she would have to eat over 50 peaches to meet this requirement.

Many people think these losses are occurring because of plant breeding, storage, ripening, over farming, or the chemicals used. More research is needed to answer the question as to why this is happening.

So combine this information with the fact that people are actually eating less fruits and vegetables. It is obvious why they have added a supplement to the food guide. You need a nutritional supplement.
